Our first Book review is DogMan by Dav Pilkey. This book is highly recommended by the Bookman Institute and has Dr. Winston's seal of approval.

Dog Man is a bestselling graphic novel series by Dav Pilkey (creator of Captain Underpants). It follows the adventures of Dog Man, a part-dog, part-human police officer created when a police dog and his human partner are injured and surgically combined.

The series blends slapstick humor, comic-style action, and heartwarming themes. Across the books, Dog Man battles villains like Petey the Cat, who eventually evolves from evil mastermind to a more complex, reformed father figure trying to raise his clone-son, Lil’ Petey. Meanwhile, Dog Man works with his friends on the police force and tries to prove that even though he’s impulsive like a dog, he has the courage and heart of a true hero.

Overall, the stories focus on:

  • Friendship and forgiveness

  • The importance of kindness

  • Silly, action-packed adventures

  • Family relationships (especially between Petey and Lil' Petey)
